Nowadays majority of jobs require you to use a computer, and this situation is not likely to change anytime soon. So, it is quite important to have a good typing speed. This is where touch typing for beginners comes in. If you don’t learn touch typing, you will be slow and less productive. Here is a list of touch typing advantages.
- Time saving: Many jobs require you to have very high typing speed. This makes a lot of sense because if you have typing speed of 20 words per minute and another person has a typing speed of 70 words per minute, clearly the other person is being more productive. Touch typing helps speed up your typing considerably. With practice you could reach speeds of 100 words per minutes, imagine how little time it will take for you to type out a document.
- Increases productivity and focus: if you have to write an article or a report, you will have to put a lot of thought into it. But focusing on the piece could become an issue if you have to glance at the keyboard every few seconds. This is very distracting; on top of that you might have to make frequent corrections which will definitely negatively affect your productivity.
- Take a load off your brain: As you start getting used to touch typing for beginners, you will find that you don’t feel the need to look at your keyboard. Your fingers will automatically reach the correct keys; you will not have to spare a moment’s thought. In this context touch typing is like riding a bike or reading a book; once you learn it, you will never forget it.
- Healthier for you: typing for long hours can cause many health problems, correct posture and sitting habit is essential if you want to master touch typing. So, it promotes healthy computer habits.
