    • Do you require a complete phone system inclusive of physical desk telephones?
    • Are you satisfied with a virtual phone system relying on mobile devices?
    • What kind of service you have been searching for desk telephones?
    • Do you need VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) system?
    • Do you want to house the VoIP system hosted by a specific service provider or house the system on-premises?

These questions would be imperative to answer before you actually look forward to installing a desired and suitable business phone system in your office.

In event of you being unsure of the best business phone system suitable to your needs, find below a comprehensive guide to help you choose the right options from the following:

    • VoIP
    • Virtual phone systems
    • Landlines
    • Cloud-based systems

Let us delve briefly on the aforementioned options.

VoIP (Virtual over Internet Protocol) Systems

Such systems would make use of internet connectivity already used by the company to stay online. The VoIP systems would offer features that were earlier used by huge corporations using expensive PBX hardware. These have been known to send voicemails to computers and email boxes in order to be transformed into softphones.

The VoIP systems would help the remote workers gain access to business phone systems from their respective mobile handsets.

The systems are easier to set up, configure, and relatively cheaper than other available options. The only drawback being without internet connectivity, you would be stranded.

    Virtual Phone Systems

These kinds of systems would connect the main business phones to all remote workers using the home or mobile phones. It has been deemed an extensive call-forwarding system where you would be able to transfer calls to every designated phone of the employee. The client or customer would be connected to the employee when they call on the main business number.

It would cater you with a wide variety of features. It would connect the employees of the company regardless of where they have been working. The drawback would be you being charged on your mobile or home phone minutes.

    Landlines – The Traditional System

It would be covered and supported by a regional or local phone company. You would require PBX (private branch exchange) hardware to run the system on the premises. The hardware would enable you to create several extensions. These would be essential for using its call directories and call transfer features.

These traditional systems have been deemed reliable and time-tested systems used by several companies. The drawback has been most phone system providers stepping away from landline phones. The result would be difficulty in repairing and purchasing new systems provided the device breaks down.

    Cloud-Based Systems

You would not be required to worry about hardware or maintenance while using the cloud-based systems. The service provider would take care of everything ranging from housing, maintaining, and upgrading the PBX technology for your business. You would be able to add new lines and gain access to the latest features with the cloud-based systems.

You do not need to purchase or maintain dial-tone service or PBX hardware, as everything would be taken care of through the computer. However, the drawback would be lack of control on the hardware.

Gaining knowledge o the basics would help you choose the right business phone system suitable to your specific needs.
